Cheating

The Host program comes with it's own cheat detection: the Tim Continuum. This checks this turn's amounts of resources (supplies, minerals and money) with the expected amounts based on last turn's amounts (note that this check is before planets produce supplies, minerals and taxes.

If it finds an inconsistency the player is considered to be cheating, and will be hit by the Tim Continuum. This corrects the amount of resources and imposes some penalties, which can vary from ships being flung across the galaxy and planetary fueldumps exploding to the plague hitting a player's planets.

The Tim Continuum will also punish players if it detects two players using the same registered version of the game, when both their turns are not made at the same time. It is possible for one person to play multiple races in one game as long as he makes the turns for all those races at the same time.

The Tim Continuum is known to sometimes strike unjustified if the host's computer has hickups during the running of the Host program or turn-files get corrupted while being e-mailed to the host. There is also a possibility Winplan corrupts your turnfile: " If you open the Planet screen, then opened the Starbase, Build Ship, Select Beams, then focus on the Planet Screen again and pressed the "+" key to move to a next planet." Winplan will then use minerals and money from the other planet to build parts on the starbase, something the Tim Continuum will strike at.

If you feel you've been hit by the Tim Continuum without a reason I advise you to contact your host.

Apart from the Tim Continuum check, the host program check's the player's commands (sent in the turnfile) at several points during the hostrun to make sure the orders issued by the player are within the rules of the host program.
