Ship Names - THE Shiplist Util!

ShipNames v 3.202 is a fabulous player utility for Winplan and works under Windows. It names ship naming very easy for you: it keeps track of all names that are currenly in use by you (and by your enemies). It has a database type list which you can use to select new names for your ships - just hit the 'Copy to clipboard' icon and paste the name in the shipname dialogue. Just as simple as that!
Shipnames has also easy features for importing and exporting names to other textfiles and it checks if ship names are already in use. It uses the VPWORKx directories of Winplan to store its files so you can have different shipname files for every game you play. What more do you want?

This update has new options: 1. On-line help labels, 2. Shortcuts and 3. Checks for unused names.

The archive comes with a good windows Help file - which is actually not neccessary as all controls are very intuitive. There are also nine sample shiplists included, some of them were taken from this page (with permission) while others are brandnew! (As a chemist I have to admit I like the list with the 102 chemical elements.:-) For Trekkies there is _another_ list with 3000 Star Trek related names.

Freeware by Chris Holz ([email protected]). Don't forget to visit his WWW site.

I've been betatesting it and it's marvelous! Give it a try - and you'll love it! It is small, save and simple. Check it out - the file is 140 kB: shipnm.zip.

GameName

Although GameName was originally written to assist GameMasters by creating new names for their creatures and object in their RPG games, it can also be very handy for VGAP players to help them creating new names for their ships.

GameName is a (semi-)random name generator. It is simple to use and can be easily expanded to give a wider variety of names. The archive file comes with 7 ready to use names files.

GameName was written by Gurth and needs Windows. A DOS version of GameName will be released in the (near) future. If it's released you can find it here, or maybe you want to check out Gurths RPG site yourself.
