  • Check out my hidden pages!
  • I assume you've read my tip about restoring Winplan BMPs?
  • I've got a batch file to get rid of all unused Winplan shit! Get it now!

    Tim's Planets

WHAT???!?!? You're _just_ replacing Tim's original shippicts? No way! Although you will undoubtedly look at your ships more often than at your planets, more than 45% of the latter are a real pain to look at! Get rid of them, and select some nice replacements from this site! There will be enough picts to satisfy your needs and drifts...

  • Winplan comes with 116 BMPs of planets. 72 of them are those smooth looking marbles, the other 44 are of the v3.0 DOS quality. :-(

  • However of those 116 BMPs only 95 pictures are used by winplan - 21 of them are unused??? (You might want to check the vplXX.bmp numbers using these lists.)

    I reccommend:

  • View the planets that are on this list of crappy planets (Those 44 v3.0 quality picts). Select the ones you don't like.
  • Download my replacement planets packages and use those picts and some of the unused picts (vpl145.bmp - vpl162.bmp) as replacement for the ones you didn't like.
  • There are 29 pictures in my first archive and 19 in the second. Together with the 18 unused planets this makes 65: enough to cover those 44 lousy BMPs....
  • Use the INSTPLAN.BAT file in the third planets replacement package to install the planets at the correct place. No need to dig for the ID, this batch file will do that for you.

    Replacement Planets

Just the first few - more are coming........!

    SET #1

The following 29 pictures on this page are in the first package. This set also includes the first two of the set of replacement planetary starbase picts. An impression:

    SET #2

The next set of 19 pictures are in the second package. A quick overview:

    SET #3

Next to a new bunch of planets the third set features a set of batch files you can use to replace/restore the pictures of your choise from the first three packages. Also included are the next three planetary starbases - use them instead of the planet picts.

INCLUDES BATCH FILE FOR EASY INSTALLING!
    (Works for *every* planet BMP!)

You'll have to get this third package!

    SET #4

Talking about overkill: there are 131 new planet BMPs in this file! There should be some nice picts in it for you... The fourth package is about 370 kB.

The images below are a sample, just 35 of the 131 pictures - displaying all images would take to much time and space even if they were scaled.

Planets Mask Kit - Special Set #1

In the past times, eons before the first intergalactic war and before Man's first step into their galaxy, this part of the universe was populated by an ancient and powerful race we now call the Warshippers. Although only small traces of this race were found no contacts with living survivors were ever reported. It is generally believed that this race was exterminated by a terrible disease like an unstoppable virus, although the found evidence is not for 100% convincing.

The planets colonised and cultivated by the Warshippers are very easy to recognise from great distance (i.e. from ouside the solar system): the Warshippers ornamented their planets with large horrible faces of themselves. The size of such a mask is tremendous - only the smallest of them is comparable to the size of the Chinese Wall on Earth. The Warshippers used almost everything to construct their giant mirror images: they reshaped huge mountains, moved whole continents and dug entire oceans.

    Warshipper Mask at Orion 6

And the reason for the masks? A pure and evil strategy: What enemy fleet would attack a race so resourceful and capable of transforming their own planets.....?

Why not do it yourself? You seem like a powerful leader of your race to me, and you can always use some extra help against other hostile races. So get yourself my special Planets Mask Kit (PMK) tm. It comes with four sample masks and ready to use 15 examples. And the best for last: it's completely free!

    Hints and tips:

All the files you need are in the Planets Mask Kit. Enjoy! Tell me if you like it, and don't forget to send me a copy of your favourite mask!

Special Starbase Set - Special Set #2

Strange thing, eh? You've got this large Starbase orbiting your homeworld, it is capable of building even the largest Death Star but it doesn't show up when you review your planet..? No way!

That's what this set is for: to match your base pict to your planet pict. Look at the figure below:

Select a starbase of the upper line and rename it to vpl23.bmp. Use the corresponding planet of the lower line and insert it for example on your homeplanet using the batch files included in Planets Set #3.
